Journalling reads: When Lukas was younger, we took him to see Bobby Roberts Super Circus. We had never been to a circus before and we were excited at least until they said no photographs were allowed. It’s kind of dificult to capture the memory of a first trip to the circus, without photographs. During the intermission they offered the chance to ride the ponies or have a photograph taken with their elephant, Anne. We let Lukas pick which he wanted to do and he chose the ponies, but for days afterwards we all remarked about how very sad she had looked. She has been a part of the circus since she was a baby. Since then a lot of things have changed, a tabloid newspaper filmed her groom, “battering, kicking and stabbing her with a pitchfork. The RSPCA stepped in and she has now been rehomed to Longleat Safari Park. She is receiving all the care and attention that she requires for her severe arthritis and dry skin. It makes me happy to know that at 57 years old, she is now finally allowed to relax and just live out her life in peace. April 2011.

Journalling reads: After playing in the garden we headed to the big park to play in the snow. Someone got the bright idea tp pile even more snow on the bottom of the slide and let you go down headfirst!

Journalling reads: When Ella wanted to go and see the Cbeebies Live show at the New Thatre, Auntie Lisa and Uncle Gary thought that you might like to go as well. They bought your ticket and they wouldn’t even accept the money from mummy for it. When the day finally came for the performance you were so excited. You waited anxiously by the front door while the rain poured down outside. You were so impatient and couldn’t wait to get going. You were so thrilled when Uncle Gary and Ella finally came to pick you up. This was the first time you had ever been on a trip like this without me. You went by car into the city centre and then you had to walk from the car park to the theatre. You were worried that you were going to get wet. But when you got out of the car the rain completely stopped so you were able to stay nice and dry. You and Ella had a lovely time, before you left you bought a souvenir Cbeebies program and couldn’t wait to show it to me. You are so lucky that you have a cousin so close in age to you to do fun things like this with. 13th April 2008.
